Description:

This project added approximately 30,000 sf of conference and training space to the existing facility at Region 17 ESC in Lubbock, Texas.  Approximately 20,000 sf of space is a main conference hall (maximum capacity of approximately 1,000), dividable into as many as six separate rooms via movable sound-controlling partitions.  Each space is fully equipped with digital and HD audio/visual equipment.  The addition also contains approximately 2,000 sf of full-spectrum combination science teaching laboratory and classroom space (including workroom and chemical storage), also fully equipped with digital and HD audio/visual equipment.  Support space includes circulation and lounging space large enough to allow occupants to move comfortably from space to space, while also allowing for ancillary functions, such as registration stations and vendors.  The addition also contains fully appointed public restrooms, general storage (tables, chairs, etc.), a catering staging space with modest food service equipment, general receiving space (including a depressed truck dock), and indoor vehicle storage.  Interior finishes were provided to reflect an environment more akin to a major convention center than a traditional education setting.  An entrance lobby featuring terrazzo flooring inlaid with the Region 17 ESC logo and name highlight the interior package, which also includes accent borders of laminated vinyl tile (LVT) in the corridors, as well as accent ‘bands’ of LVT crossing the floor of the Main Hall.  The flooring in the Science Lab is also LVT.
