Description:

The Levelland ISD Middle School houses 6th through 8th grades and has facilities for band, choir, athletics, and shop.  The main focus for the interior design was to give the older students a place that was uniquely theirs.  The design goal was realized by using colors that were “saturated” and “striking”, but not necessarily “bright” or “primary”, thus giving the main corridors interest. Repeating those same colors in the terrazzo floor pattern adds another dimension to the interesting features of the interior.

The terrazzo floor pattern was repeated on the exterior of the building with the use of stained concrete. The pattern in the concrete helped to divide the gray expanse that you normally see when entering a building while bringing continuity from the exterior to the interior.

In the athletics area, the use of the ‘team’ colors and the Lobo mascot was integrated into the floor of the main lobby. Large graphics in both gyms were used to bring team spirit to the space.
